Social Media Strategist | Writer | Mom | Aspiring Naturopath

Recognized by the City of El Paso as a ‘Social Media Shining Star’, Crysti Couture is a social media strategist, trainer and speaker certified by the National Institute for Social Media. She has been actively immersed in social media since 2006, and in that time has helped businesses and nonprofits of all sizes better connect with their customers and target audiences.

In addition to being responsible for leading all aspects of Visit El Paso’s social media and multimedia strategy, Crysti has been a speaker on social media for a variety of professional events and organizations, such as Femfessionals, the El Paso Business Conference and Expo, and for the El Paso Community Foundation. She has also personally trained several dozen local attractions and nonprofits in social media, giving them the building blocks to creating a more compelling and effective presence online.

Earlier in her career, she wrote for El Paso Times, Fusion Magazine, and 915Lifestyle.

During her free time, Crysti enjoys running, researching local history, painting, and spending time with her fiancé, son, and two dogs. She also serves on committees for the Texas Trost Society and the Paso Del Norte Health Foundation.


I believe that social media is a form of communication that everyone can benefit from. It might seem daunting at first, with so many networks out there and all, but it’s a very fun, approachable, and easy to understand medium.

I find it hard to accept that there are any true social media ‘experts’. This field is constantly evolving – there are new networks popping up every few months, and updates to the ways these networks operate on a consistent basis. To be an ‘expert’ is to know absolutely everything there is to know about something, and with social media, there is always something new to learn, and we’re all in it together.

On a deeper level, I believe that social media is a fairly decent reflection of our collective consciousness. We can learn a lot from each other, reach out to audiences that we had never fathomed of having before, and use social media as a catalyst to inspire happiness, well-being, and interconnectedness. The moods and attitudes that social media conveys also serve to show us where we can improve as a society.
