Recent Work: Fusion Magazine #79 | Beer, Music, and Writing
“The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build and play and dance and live as only you can.” ~ Neil Gaiman
Last month, I returned to a long lost love: writing. For now, the best vehicle to do that is through Fusion Magazine – an intensely awesome, monthly publication headquartered in El Paso that distributes amongst the hip places in El Paso, Juarez, Chihuahua, Marfa and even as far away as Mexico D.F.
I took a brief hiatus from writing – and by ‘brief, I mean a little over a year. I needed to acclimate to the new work I began doing and get my mind in the right space. However, the problem with quitting a passion for the sake of other things is that eventually you start feeling a little dead inside.
Last month, I got to meet the hard working folks at the up-and-coming Deadbeach Brewery in Downtown El Paso. I’m really looking forward to their opening day! Varieties like ‘Llorona Lager’ and ‘Abuelita Stout’ will fill their taps…but I won’t spill all the beans, read all about it on Fusion Magazine HERE.
Another interesting article I wrote last month was about ‘Marfa Myth’, a new, immersive music festival that took place in Marfa, TX. Apparently, the city is becoming a bit of an artist hot-spot and quite honestly, has been so for quite some time. I’ve never been to Marfa myself, but after chatting with two of the organizers that have made Marfa Myths happen for the last two years, I definitely want to check it out. Find out why HERE.
So that’s what’s been up with my writing lately. I’m working on an article on the very first Sun City Bacon Festival happening April 26th and a Q & A piece on Night Owl, a new hotspot in Downtown El Paso, where it seems like ALL the cool stuff is happening. Can’t wait to move back.
Did you get to check out those articles? What did you think? Let me know by sending me a tweet @CrystiCouture
